To ensure that our products perform at consistently high service levels, we set both a rate limit and a timeout value.
Our API generally requires less than 200ms to process each request you send. However, on occasion, due to internet latency, it can sometimes take longer for the response to be received by you. The maximum time we allow for processing is 15 seconds for each call that is submitted to the API. If we cannot determine the correct response in this time, you will receive an HTTP status code of 408. You will not be charged for these responses.
We recommend that you design your application to tolerate our API occasionally taking longer to reply. At a minimum, we suggest that it handles timeouts and employs retries.
